Method 1: File Manager (No App Needed) — Android
Open your phone's File Manager
Use the built-in Files / My Files app on your Android device.
Enable "Show Hidden Files"
Go to Settings (⋮) inside File Manager → turn on "Show hidden files / folders".
Navigate to WhatsApp Statuses folder
Internal Storage → WhatsApp → Media → .Statuses (note the dot — it's hidden by default)
Select and Copy/Move files
Select the images/videos you want → Copy → Paste to your DCIM/Gallery folder. Done! ✅

View the Status on WhatsApp

Method 1: Restore from Google Drive Backup
Uninstall WhatsApp from your phone
Go to Settings → Apps → WhatsApp → Uninstall. (Your Google Drive backup is safe.)
Reinstall WhatsApp from Play Store
Download and install the latest version from Google Play Store.
Verify your phone number
Enter the same phone number and verify with OTP as usual.
Tap "Restore" when prompted
WhatsApp will detect your Google Drive backup and offer to restore it. Tap Restore — all messages return! ✅

Find local backup files
Open File Manager → Internal Storage → WhatsApp → Databases
Identify backup file
Files named msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt15 are daily backups. Find the one before deletion.
Rename the backup file
Rename it to msgstore.db.crypt15 (remove the date part). This makes WhatsApp use it.
Uninstall & Reinstall WhatsApp
Reinstall, verify number, and when prompted to restore — tap Restore. Your messages are back! ✅

Enable Notification History (do this FIRST before deletion)
Settings → Notifications → Notification History → Toggle ON
